Comfort for the littlest patients
Imagine being told by your doctor that your body isn’t working how it should be and a surgeon will need to cut a hole in your belly. This hole will have a bag attached so when you need to go to the bathroom everything will collect in a bag for you to empty into the toilet. This can be very scary for adults. Now imagine you are a child when you get this news.
This is a major change for kids that they probably don’t quite understand emotionally or physically. They will feel “different” from their friends and have to learn how to adjust to this new life. Most of us would welcome a big bear hug in that situation.
A fuzzy friend with an Ostomy
This is where Ollie the Ostomy bear comes in. Ollie is a soft fuzzy bear that can provide just a little bit of comfort in a difficult situation. However, Ollie is no ordinary bear. Ollie has an ostomy just like the wound and ostomy patients at Children’s Hosptial of Colorado.
My Campaign
Through a unique partnership with the creator of Ollie and the Wound and Ostomy team at Children’s Hospital Colorado I have created a fundraising campaign called Bear Hugs. Donations will help me secure as many Ollie’s bears as I can. He will be sent directly to my home and personally hand-delivered to the Children’s Hospital. Please donate now if you can.
